  • Nintendo World Store transformed into feudal Japan with authentic lamps, art, plastic samurai swords, and more!
  • The Nintendo World Store will be giving out 10% off coupons week before the release event
  • Muramasa themed characters in costume performing action sequences from the game
  • Limited edition Muramasa t-shirts
  • Gameplay, trailers and original music from Muramasa
  • Kanji station where attendees can have their names written in Japanese Calligraphy
  • Photo-op stage by I AM 8-BIT where attendees can take a picture in front of a stage from the game, and take home as a souvenir
  • Game kiosks with Muramasa
  • Limited promotional bags filled with Muramasa goodies such as an exclusive Muramasa t-shirt and tattoos. Come early because they will run out quickly!

We hope some of our readers get to go out and make it to this event and if you you're lucky enough to attend, be sure and snap some pics!

Looks like it might be a good arcade style platformer I've seen for a console in a long time (not counting DLC) :)

Sweet! I wish we had N-events like this in Chicago. I remember the days when we had CES here too, but alas... Can't wait till this is out everywhere else.

LZ: Agreed, I miss out on a lot becuase I can't go to New York every time Nintendo has a release of a game, if I lived in New York, I still doubt I would have the time becuase I would be working 24/7 just to have a home to live in! New York is expensive!

Im about half hour from NYC. Doubt I'll have the cash, and a ride to get there.

@Supermarioman: New york is expensive? Since when?

Oh, wow, totally forgot this game was coming out in like two weeks. Between this, Arkham Asylum, Beatles Rock Band and Scribblenauts, my wallet is going to wither and die.

I just hope some video of the live actors hit the interwebz, that sounds like the second best part of the whole thing, besides the game actually coming out.

g*d fricking damnit. New Yorkers don't even need to rub it in our jealous faces, the amount of stuff they get would be too much effort.

Gamestop is centered in Texas, why nothing here? Chicago's a big city, still, jack crap. Heck, nintendo even has headquarters in Washington State, but noooo, NYC all the time.

(cries in corner)

@fmkz: your right though. It seems like fun on paper, but actually if there was a cheesy game event like this here in Chicago I probably wouldn't go unless I could afford to buy it right then anyway. thats the whole point, so if you don't you probably can't get a whole lot of swag.

I wish I'd have known beforehand as I live in southern New Jersey, and traveling to NY would only be two-and-a-half hours. Plus, this appears to be on a Saturday and this would have been perfect for me...alas, I don't have the money! Thank God that I preordered though, I don't that I'll get my wall scroll with my game but the game is most important.

Philadelphia PA gets no respect (twenty-five miles away). I mean, the city was the birthplace of the country yet gets treated like the armpit of the Northeast...

merg

31. MERG United States 27 Aug 2009, 14:46 BST

@Wolfcoyote...not to get off topic...but how does Philly get trwated like the armpit of the Northeast. I'll admit we are overlooked sometimes with NYC being 2 hours north and DC being 2 hours south but I grew up with the belief the NJ was the armpit of the nation. Yeah you have the shore...but what else do you have? I'm not insulting Jersey mind you.

I am just repeating everyone else’s comments, but it would be cool to have a massive Nintendo Store in the UK, putting on flashy events like this. I would not even mind “the cheese”, it would be funny to see Muramasa themed characters clashing it out against feudal Japanese backdrops. I’d take many a ‘Samurai Shodown’ type photo.
I also like the way in which Ignition Entertainment enthusiastically publishes SNK Playmore titles, if they support Vanillaware titles too, then I’m all for it.

corbie_dillard

43. Corbie United States 04 Sep 2009, 00:53 BST

I contacted their PR Firm to find out what the deal is with the release date and I've not received a reply so far. As I said, they're having this "Early Release Party" in NYC tomorrow, so if the game is actually released to everyone tomorrow, these guys are actually going to be getting it after the game is released. :)

It's back out because the PR firm sent us a reminder and rather than make a whole new news item about the same thing, I bumped it, as you can read in my comment #39 above and the new tagline on the news article. :)
