Tekkaman Blade is ready for battle
Rumor: Other new characters leaked?
Capcom has said that they would explore adding new features and characters to the Western release of the anticipated Wii fighter Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, but until now they've been pretty cagey about what those shiny new features actually are. Well, besides online play, we know they're pushing hard for that.
This week, Famitsu revealed that Tekkaman Blade (Teknoman in the US) will be included in the Japanese version of Ultimate All-Stars, which is a re-release of last year's game with added features; presumably this is the same version the rest of the world will get later this year.
That much is true. Let's explore some rumor now, shall we?
According to a post on the Shoryuken forums (via Destructoid), Capcom had left image references in the source code of the Japanese roster page to some unannounced fighters: zero, frank, yatter02 and joe.
Looking at the companies line-ups, these presumably refer to Mega Man Zero and Frank West (Dead Rising) on the Capcom side, with Yatterman #2 and Joe Asakura (Gotchaman) rounding things out for Tatsunoko.
Before you lose your mind, remember that this is only a rumor.
That being said, two things lend credibility to these characters joining the roster: Tekkaman Blade was also found in the source, who has since been officially announced, and that the image references no longer include these four.
Hmmmm.

I know it's a rumor at the moment, but seeing Zero added to the playable roster of this game would put it over the top for me, as he's one of my favorite Mega Man characters ever. Nothing quite like slicing up the enemy with a long-haired red-armored robot awesomesauce.

I was going to buy this just because I love fighting games and because Viewtiful Joe and Mega man are in it and now... well now its an instant buy!

Well, if that's true I'm sad that we won't be seeing Speed Racer but that's really only because he's the only Tatsa... whatever character I am familiar with. The possible addition of Zero, is QUITE awesome however. Preferably the MMX version but I can live with the MMZ incarnation, if need be.

Wait I just realised this, but I thought he had been confirmed for the game a long time ago! He was in screenshots when the game was first announced for America!

Considering the Megaman in this game is from Legends who knows where Zero will be taken from? MMZ would still be the less fringe version, the way this is going we could almost expect one of the models from Megaman ZX...
Or shudder Battle Network? That has a Zero, right?

I am so excited about this game, 2010 can't get here faster!
I think Capcom should put in Demetri from Dark Stalkers, and Donovan would be cool as well!

In all honesty I hope the rumor is false, although I'm curious about Frank. I kinda want Capcom to use Characters from lesser known franchises and games like Gene from God Hand,Mike Haggar from Final Fight and some other Tatsunoko Character. Honestly we have three fighters from Street Fighter, two from the Megaman universe, two from Gattchaman, two from Yattaman and now two from Tekkaman. I want them to be creative, Yattaman-2, Tekkaman Blade, and Joe (Gattchaman) sond like clones to me.

that last part seems false. Tekkaman Blade is one of the four.
Capcom should put in Amaterasu and Captain Commando.
And make sequels to Captain Commando.
And bring Captain commando to the VC...

i hope frank west is playable i thought of a perfect super move frank uppercuts the other player making them grogy does a arm toss into the edge of the screen then quickly runs off screen and comes back holding a t.v and slams it into the enemy's head.
i would love captain commando but it seems unlikely i would love capcom to make the arcade copy on the vca.
@supermarioman on mvc2 there was a lot of characters that had fast guns megaman,cable,cyclops i wouldn't be shocked if they did it with frank but i hope they wouldn't

It´s great that we get Tekkaman Blade as replacement! And I´ve just started to play Dead Rising, wouldn´t mind Frank, he´s an amusing guy
Doesn´t seem like a reliable rumor anyway. Still hope for Pizza Cats...
