The weekly Super Smash Bros. Ultimate spirit board events don't appear to be stopping any time soon. Starting on 25th January, the next three-day spirit board event "The More The Merrier" will highlight multiple-character spirits.
Below is the announcement tweet from the Nintendo Australia and New Zealand Twitter account along with a picture of some of the spirits you can expect to encounter:
As noted, you'll have three days to obtain these special spirits and earn extra snacks if you beat them.
Are you still playing the spirit mode in Smash Bros. Ultimate? Will you be participating in the latest event? Tell us below.

I just want piranha plant!!!!
Go all 1302 spirits few days ago. I'll be back when they add new spirits eventually.
Already got all the spirits. How about some of them new ones, huh?
Don’t know how many f these I’ll need, but I’m happy for the event. For those wanting new ones, you’ll probably be waiting until YCW get’s released
Idk why they stopped giving out new spirits after the Mario Party Event. Honestly every event up till now could have added atleast 3 new spirits for their respective themes. I understand it may suck for the completionists who have yet to get the game, but I just wish there were more event exclusive spirits.
@patbacknitro18 I personally hate the idea of spirits you can outright miss due to them only being in limited time only events.
Spirit Mode is pretty much all I've been playing so far. Namely the board - I haven't even got to the main course yet.
@PipeGuy64Bit can you, though? I often see various event spirits show up outside events. Even legends IIRC. So I was starting to assume that events simply boost appearance rates. Granted, I haven't quite kept track of what spirits were actually advertised as "new to the event".
All I play is online.
I wish the Spirit Board awarded actual snacks
one like = one chocolate
@PipeGuy64Bit I love it as it incentivizes you to jump back in the game for a bit for some fun exclusive items. Sure it sucks for those who miss out on the event, but again that just adds to the satisfaction of being one of the lucky people to have gotten the exclusive event spirits.
@CharlieSmile But who gets the chocolate -_-
@Luffymcduck 1300 for me, I don't have the Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee spirits.
I’m too busy with online to worry about spirits lol, but It’s cool that they hold events for the rest of the Smash community.
As a new player, I’m confused with how this works. Can all these spirits be obtained in World of Light? Or do I have to play the Spirit Board mode to get some of them? Thanks for the any help!
@humbucker Most spirits can be obtained in World of Light, but there are quite a few that can only be obtained in Spirit Board as well as the unlockable SP shops in WoL. Also most summonable spirits can only be obtained in the Summon menu.
@SubBronze Thanks!
I really hope they add a new dungeon after all the DLC with the new fighters and the limited time spirits.
Pretty much done with Smash until either the Let's Go spirits appear, Piranha Plant is released or there's some timed exclusive spirits.
People: "I already have all the spirits!"
Me: "Have you slept since the game launched?"
@Heavyarms55 Yeah, pretty much. That's some dedication but...I can't do it. I think I've got around 880ish spirits, and I play online mostly. And I'm playing other games. And sleeping.
"Gotta _______ 'em all!" (add your verb of choice) must be the most common subtitle tag on this site by far.
@PipeGuy64Bit,
I agree. They should be always available.
@nhSnork So far, only three spirits were event exclusive: Golden Mushroom, Dice Block, and River Survival (all from the Super Mario Party event). It's not currently possible to obtain them ingame. Other featured spirits (some of which are normally rare and/or hard to capture) still have a chance of appearing on the spirit board.
@patbacknitro18 They can give people an incentive to pick up the game again by having an event with new spirits, but then making them attainable after the event as a random spirit board appearance. That is fair for newcomers to the game and people that have jobs, school, relationships, and/or other hobbies as well as people that don't. Why not make it an invitation rather than a command?
@AlternateButtons weren’t those already released? If it’s the “companion spirit” you are supposed to get by owning either Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee, I received that in my in-game mailbox like 3 days after Smash Ultimate released. Have you checked your inbox?
Expanding upon what @Gibb said, can the editors please refrain from using any variation of the Pokemon tagline in their articles in the future because it's being used on one almost every month.
