Advance Wars is a series that's long been awaiting a comeback, and now fans of the series or those yet to experience its charms have something to get excited about. In today's E3 Nintendo Direct it was confirmed that Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp arrives on 3rd December.
It's a rather dramatic remaster of the original two campaigns - from Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising - bundled together. That'll offer plenty of content and, as you can see, there's a whole new look to the game.
Are you ready for battle?

This was a cool surprise. Been a long time since I've played any game in the series so I'm down.
I do hope that there is a map editor as well.
I jumped out of my seat for this one. This remake looks so good!
Ok, this is amazing, I'm so ready to try this game out.
Very excited for this, even if the mix of 3d and cartoon visuals looked a little off. Game itself is a classic
Guess Tiny Metal lost all relevance.
Oof, why no comments. People SHOULD be ROARING over this.
This is great news! I love this franchise and was hoping for a return.
Biggest surprise for me. Has rekindled hope that Nintendo hasn't forgotten about older franchises like F-Zero.
I've heard great things about this series. I've been getting into tactics since Mario + Rabbids, so im gonna jump in on this if its not too dear
This was my favorite title out of the presentation. I missed out on this back in the GBA days.
This was the big winner for me, wasn't expecting to see this at all. Love the new art design, I think it quite nicely captures the animated feel of the original AW games.
I can only hope this'll lead to some actual new entries for the series as well.
Is it just me or does the art style look like a massive downgrade from the original?
I miss this series so much, nice that they are bringing it back. Hopefully this return means they are planning to bring back more of the classic games or had plans for new Advance Wars entries.
I wonder if they will charge full price for this too.
BEST ANNOUNCEMENT OF E3! Hands down, no competition, this is the winner! I was freaking screaming like a school girl! I was bouncing up and down in my chair like a madman!
Advance Wars 1 and 2 defined my childhood! So many memories! Advance Wars was the first game I got on GBA, and I will never forget opening it Christmas morning! My parents had placed the game on top of the GBA, and I opened the game first. I was all ready to be sad because I wouldn't be able to play it, then I realized what the last present must have been!
Between both games I dropped hundreds and hundreds of hours! I spent so much time making and playing maps, and war room and campaign mode!
I'm shocked. So happy and excited for this
I didn't get to watch live and was about to say this direct was a huge disappointment, but then I saw this. Best Direct ever
So switch is pretty much srpg paradise at this point!
I was so excited when Advance Wars popped up, and then it was crushed as it was revealed it was just a Remaster. How much effort would 25-30 new maps really have been?
Holy gwacka-mole! The series isn't dead.
@Abeedo Totally with you on that one. At first I was extremely hyped to see a return of AW, but the 3D models look really cheap to me. Really genuinely happy for everyone who is looking forward to this, but I rather play the old games again instead of this.
When I saw 'Orange Star' my jaw dropped. This is my game of the presentation.
Yyyyyyyyyyeeesssssss!!!!!
Definitely the most surprising announcement of the Direct. Super excited to play these games again.
I dunno, I want to like it? This and Dread looked cheap af to me. UNPOPULAR OPINION, I know.. spare me the @'s.
WarioWare and This in one direct. Just my favourite gba games ever.
Hope they have a way of adding maps. Since the advance wars one maps i can dream.
(Btw. This might decrease the chances on a gba on nso, bot?)
It's so cool to see Advance Wars returning!
Definitely one of the highlights of todays direct.
@Peach64 "rebuilt from the ground up" = expect more announcements in the future
Great to see this finally make it to Nintendo's mainline consoles, but if they didn't include local multiplayer or a map editor, they missed a HUGE opportunity here.
UPDATE: Just confirmed multiplayer on the game's eShop page!
Oooh. I loved the original AW on GBA. Until some jackass in middle school stole my GBA and AW with it. I'll never forgive him. Until now, maybe.
This was a nice surprise! Definitely one to add.
I pretty much let a fanboy squeal out at this one. Instant buy. So pleased.
Fantastic news!
This had me jumping up and down in joy. Advance wars is back , and never bin more happier
Pretty sure I played both of these on Wii U for like $8 each. Don't understand how everyone is so excited to likely pay $60 for the pair. Maybe $40. I really enjoyed them, would be stoked for a sequel, but not a double dip the way Nintendo tends to charge for things.
Happy for the people who want them, I know it's a well liked series, but I'd rather see the originals included in the NO subscription service.
I was just thinking about these games...loved playing them on TV with the Game Boy Player with my friends. A pleasant surprise.
Awesome loved these games!
@Peach64 You do know the last Advance Wars game (Advance Wars: Days of Ruin) bomb right. Nintendo probably remastered these so to bring interest in the series again, if they made a new entry and it bomb like Days of Ruin then the series wouldn't be getting a revival at all. Hopefully with these remastered it sparks more interest for future new entries. We may eventually get an actual Advance Wars 3 this time if these remastered sell well.
This is really unfair. I do love Advance Wars and the future of the franchise probably does to a large degree hinge on the success of this package, but I already played these games to death and I also absolutely do not like this art style they've chosen to go with here. It's very .. I dunno, Bob-The-Builder'esque. Dunno, but if it had just been HD-Pixel-Art based on the original games aesthetic, I would have VASTLY prefered that.
Hence I guess as a fan I should really buy this, even though it is not a sequel and the "remaster" part of the package is absolutely not for me - bummer 😢
The price stings on this ($59.99), but if I can afford it after Metroid and SMTV, it a done deal. I really hope there is a map editor and some online play at that price tag wether I use it or not.
@commentlife If you don’t want replies to your opinions keep them to yourself.
@Ralek85 You gotta take one for the team, friend.
(Please don’t buy it if you don’t want to play it)
@Dualmask I used to do the same thing! I've said for years that a big part of why I love the Switch so much is because of all the time I spent playing the same games on GBA and GBA player on the TV.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Yeah, Days of Ruin lived up to its name in the worst way. Who thought it was a good idea to replace the entire cast of the series and have that weird story like in parasite plants and stuff?
I adore the first 3 games and played them to death! But Days of Ruin? I think I put maybe 20 hours in, compared to hundreds of hours in the previous titles.
@Spiders I think you can count of a map editor. Both of the originals had it. I can't imagine them cutting the feature for a remake. Although... to be fair, I couldn't imagine them replacing the entire cast and writing a super weird infectious plant story for Days of Ruin. So, say 98% change of map editor.
Both games are as close to 100/100 as it gets. I’ve spent hundreds of hours on both - AW2 was my most played game on Wii U.
I can see myself dipping again.
@Heavyarms55 I must be a weirdo because Days of Ruin is my favorite one. Not the story or replaced cast, but the scaling back of all the mechanics, units, and CO powers just make for a better tactical game. Everything around the core was kind of a drag though so I can see why people don’t like it.
I’m torn as I want to support this but I have the original games and on first impressions I prefer the original art style.
I had a similar initial reaction to Links Awakening on Switch though and I still played that!
Nice. I probably won't get this as I still have the GBA games around, but cool to see something happen with the series. Hope it leads to a new entry.
While I prefer fantasy settings, I've heard decent things about the Advance Wars series. I was debating picking up the first game on the Wii U VC, but I might just grab this package instead.
Horrible art style, but very excited to see Advance Wars back.
Really hope this does well. The series has never been a huge seller-the GBA games sold 700k and 650k, and the DS games 390k and 610k.
Because of that the only way this was coming back to life is a remake. If this does well, we may see something else.
@Spiders I've bought plenty of games (mostly) for support, esp. all the double- and triple-dips. I do wonder though, if a potential sequel would then also tend to take design clues from these remasters ... maybe taht would sending the wrong message. Like I said, it's just unfair, had they just reworked the original pixel art for 1080p, which can still look gorgeous today, this would be a no brainer 🤦♂️
@Spiders All the power to you, if you liked it. You're probably the first person I have ever heard say it was their favorite. lol
@Abeedo I wouldn’t be surprised if these assets were from an attempt to put AW on mobile. I would have preferred a more textured 3D look, but everything looks super crisp and readable and the animations are charming. Some of the “generic” quality of the updated look is also due to how influential the original was. Thousands of mobile games and browser games have tried to cop the look and feel of the cartoon carnage of Advance Wars, so it’s just not as striking a design as it was decades ago.
At first I thought it was a new entry in the series. Here's hoping it's in the works.
@rjejr Fair point but how many people who now have a Switch actually owned a Wii U or are old enough to have played the originals?
I played it back in the day on GBA (as I am old) but excited that it's being made available to all the young Switchersnappers.
Plus I'm tempted to double dip.
Now this is something I have been begging for.
@Julien me im old as well and cant wait to play it.
Seeing it's $60 on the eShop, I'll keep the WiiU VC copies at $8 on my wish list for an impulse buy at some point. If the remasters go on sale for $30 or less before I get to the WiiU copies, I might bite.
This is too much money for these games. I loved them on the Gameboy Advance but come on! $60??????
Maybe for a brand new game!
Best direct ever just for this and Metroid Dread!!!
I cried. Legit tears of joy.
It blew my mind when the words Orange Star appeared. Then a little bit disappointed about the remaster but very happy Nintendo still knows we are there waiting to be fed. Looking forward to play against the world with online play. That has to be included.
Now throw those WiiU eShop Advance Wars games in discount to celebrate!
Super disappointed by Nintendos e3, but this was good, been wanting this for a really long time.
This artstyle is ATROCIOUS
@Bulborb My guess is this is to test the water. If this sells well it gives them financial details on what a new one would make
Another great announcement. I have a sneaking suspicion the art style will be diversive (and I'll happily be in the middle not caring too much about it lol)
Well son of gun! This came out of nowhere! Advance Wars 1 and 2 are fantastic GBA games, and I can't wait to re-boot into the series.
Now just allow us to save more than 3 Design Maps, and resize the Design Maps.
This could be a reasonable filler game for strategy fans until what ever we are waiting for gets released, but it's not a full priced game.
One of the major highlights of the Direct!
Meh. Love Advance Wars but not excited about a remake, and not loving the new 3D graphics. The 2D animated sequences are much more expressive.
I hope it has online play with friends!!!!!
@earthinheritor You're right, that's why I'm buying this boxed (if available) and eShop, just to show we care about new stories, new characters and fancy unit capabilities.
Can't wait to play this on my iOS smartphone.
Yeeees! My fellow Advance Wars fanatic friend and I still play this every time we get together, and now we can play it online! While this is certainly not perfect, I will take what I can get. $60 is steep, and the visuals are eh, but I will support this and hope for a new sequel someday!
Art style is not amazing but good enough for what this remake is trying to do.
Never played an Advance Wars game before so I'm excited to give this a try.
@Patendo the eShop page says 1-2 players online.
@Heavyarms55 Good job you weren't screaming like a madman and bouncing up and down like a schoolgirl.
@Enigk Lol. Not gonna lie, it took me a second to get that joke.
This is so great! I really hope it runs at the same awesome frame rate as the GBA games! I'll buy this and play the hell out of it no matter what though! Advance Wars (and Gameboy Wars and Super Famicom Wars and Advance Wars DS) is the best!
@Kanbei awesome news, you made my night with that
I so thought this was going to be Battalion Wars 3 for the Switch. I also thought the 20th Anniversary game was also going to be Pikmin 4, but it seems that's still in development even after 6 years... Needless to say it was my own fault of misinterpretation of their intros that led to my disappointment with this direct.
I really enjoyed these games but $60 is too much. I’ll wait till they go on sale.
One of my fav DS game series. Great news.
The question remains whether the map creator will come back from Advance Wars 2?
@commentlife I'm not normally a big graphics person but after a week of looking at shiny 4k trailers this presentation was startling.
Just like the new Metroid and Wario Ware, this game looks cheap and ugly. So disappointing that I prefer replaying gba versions instead.
At first glance I thought "what's with the art style?", and then I remembered the Japanese box art. Makes sense I guess. Still, it will have to grow on me, because I'm a huge fan of the original Advance Wars art style. And the games in general.
I was kind of thinking of turning "general" into a MAJOR pun by adding to it, but I'll keep my efforts PRIVATE as they're not all that funny anyway.
Thank god Nintendo is bringing this series back
Super happy this coming back! Thought this series was dead.
$60??
owned these on GBA and would love them again.
I expected $20 eShop game
No way.
Advance wars and Field commander on PSP were my favorites in this genre.
Has been long enough since playing that will pick these up. Hopefully they will make a new entry for the series soon.
@Heavyarms55 I will be the second then. I LOVED Advance Wars & Advance Wars 2 (Black Hole Rising).
Then I thought Dual Strike was a solid OK. Fortunately, Days of Ruin more then made up for it. At first I wasn't sure if I liked Days of Ruin more then the GBA games, but then the GBA games came to Wii U and I played them again. They're still great, but there's no question Days of Ruin was my favorite.
As for todays announcement, I recognized that it was Advance Wars BEFORE I realized it was a remake. I got really excited about the possibility of a new game. Then it was a let down, but I was watching with my 7, 9 & 11 year olds and I now realize that even though I played on GBA & Wii U, they didn't and now they get a chance.
I love these game, but I don’t particularly like the new look though.
Quite surprised by this one. Thought this one was long gone after the two DS games and their main focus going 100% into Fire Emblem. Hopefully if this sells and does well that maybe Dual Strike, Days of Ruin and maybe a brand new Advance Wars game can become reality.
£50 is a lot for a 2D remake. You could buy Mario Odyssey for £50. Think Nintendo need to have a serious look at there pricing structure
@leo13 That's interesting as I vastly prefer Dual Strike to Days of Ruin. The choice to replace the entire cast with new characters and the darker tone plus, in my opinion, strange story just didn't work for me at all. Where I played AW, AW2 and DS like mad, hundreds of hours, for each game, I think I put maybe 20 hours into DoR before selling it and it being one of the few games I don't regret selling as I doubt I'd ever pick it up again.
I don't mean other people can't or shouldn't enjoy it, but I certainly didn't.
Edge said this was one of the handful of games that they wished they’d given a 10/10 to.
I remember playing it back in the summer of 2003 when I was in London on an internship. Happy times indeed.
I really enjoy the toy soldier esque look of the units in this version, suits it very well.
Not a big fan of the series or turn based strategy games but I played the 1st one till I hit a difficulty spike and never looked back but enjoyed the ride till it lasted.
beyond excited for this!! and also for what it means...
My dreams almost came true today. ADVANCE WARS on SWITCH!!!!
COME ON BABY!! Now you're talking.
My favourite game franchise ever is making a return. I never thought I would ever see this day. It's a shame that they are remastered sort of, instead of a brand new title. But on the plus side two for the price of one.
Not sure on the art style ie table top view like a game board. I was hoping for something a little more dynamic similar to Tiny Metal.
However this is top of my nintendo list and hopefully will sell well enough for nintendo to green-light more advance wars titles.
Also hyped for Cruis'n Blast btw.
This was the best thing about E3. No game came close to this for me.
This was the best surprise-announcement ever. Loved it back in the day and can't wait to play it again.
Who else is just pleased about this because it gives hope Golden Sun could get the same treatment one day?
@electrolite77 so little? That i guess explaims it was’nt in the top five gba games, while for me it was the defining gba game...
I just saw it was it was 11 gb on the esh, so they better have added aome content.. original advance wars has been in my gba micro for so much time.. it is just the perfect game for it..
I hope this sells well enough to convince Nintendo to make AW3…
They went with this art style so nobody would accuse them of copying Wargroove.
@SNEED I wouldn’t be surprised if the assists started out from a mobile project. That said, I think the graphics are fine - disappear pretty quick in strategy games like AW... who lets the animations play out?
@Capt_T Field Commander would be a great game to get a remake. Clean up the graphics to make units more readable and fix the loooooading. Sony probably forgot they made it.
@Julien I'm betting a lot of people double dip. I guess I just don't see the excitement in double dipping maybe? I mean I can be happy an old game or 2 is coming to a new system for $60 - it is $60 btw fyi - but I'd be excited if a new game were coming in addition to the remasters. Guess I'm just bamboozled that I can play old Advance Wars games when there is no new one but I can't play Monster Hunter Stories before MHS2 b/c that game didn't get a port.
This was such amazing surprise! Not just a lazy port either. They took the time to rebuild it in the new 3d FE engine so I can only hope that this is just a primer for a new AW game!
This and Metroid were wonderful surprises! Can't wait to play these again. I hope they have multiplayer in them... local.
I love the lady that does the voice over for this. She really gives it some welly.
Just found out WayForward are the ones making this! Would explain the really neat portraits!
As someone who would be interested after hearing this game praised for almost 2 decades, i am severely unimpressed. It looks like it could be a direct port from GBA. Tiny Metal looks way better than this game & i was hugely let down by that also, so i guess Advance wars just wasn't for me. I was always told in forums that it was like fire emblem w military equipment. Not anywhere close. Hopefully there's a demo, but the look kills any immersion i may have had otherwise, sadly.
This is the greatest thing of 2021 so far. I hope it sells 25 million units and leads to reboots of all Wars games as well as new games in the series. Switch Wars!
Can Nintendo stop giving me exactly what I want?
Waiting and wishing is a key part of being a Nintendo fan.
@romanista
Yeah it’s always been a well regarded court classic rather than any kind of mainstream success. One of the reasons I was absolutely stunned to see it resurrected.
I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I hope they also do a 2 pak of the ds games. I started with days of ruin, so it ended up still being my favorite. Still excited that aw is getting some love, makes me hopeful for the future of the series.
@Abeedo yes the art style does look like a big downgrade and I have been trying to figure out why it bothers me so much. I think a large part of it is the new characters look like cheap bubblegum pop Flash animation and less like the like the edgy anime characters that appealed to me as an early teen. Despite that I’m excited that the series is getting some attention and maybe it will lead to a real follow up.
I don't know how I feel about this! I'm both super excited and super hesitant. I never played Advance Wars when I was a kid. I got into Fire Emblem with Sacred Stones but my obsession didn't really begin until Awakening, a while after Advance Wars began fading into obscurity. As an IntSys strategy game, I'm very interested. But I played Wargroove when it came to Switch and maaaaan am I bad at that game. Seriously, I suck so much, I played on story mode. Had a great time, but the difficulty had to be non-existent. I don't know if I have the ability to play and enjoy this remake.
The change of the art style is horrific.
@Spiders The worst part about this announcement is Nintendo handing AW off to a trash studio that makes mobile-tier games, it's a surprise Shantae isn't in Smash considering the work Nintendo gives them I guess.
@TheBigK AW is a lot more straight forward than Wargroove and less punishing. It has a very good (if long) tutorial as well. The main story mode is pretty easy with some nice challenges, and the tougher challenges are in the separate War Room missions.
I have been commenting that all I wanted was Advance Wars on the Switch and here it is! This and Metroid Dread were the games that made me love this direct. I'm hopeful that they bring all 4 Advance Wars games to the package, as DLC or another separate game. This is a chance to spark the series again, similar to how Fire Emblem took off with its last chance on Fire Emblem Awakening. I hope people will buy it. While I'm not totally crazy about the art style of the units (I really liked the pixel look of the original games, maybe they can sell skins or have an original look to the units that you can flip between) I will definitely support the Advance Wars series here.
@SNEED The shame is Wayforward has some done some gorgeous pixel work! I’m not a big fan (save Contra 4). but they are definitely not a mobile studio.
@Heavyarms55 no worries, I assume you didn't mean any offense. Everyone has different preferences. I liked that they went with new characters just because it shook things up. I liked the darker tone. I'm not sure that it'd always want the darker tone, but I like when they shake things up sometimes. Also, they ratcheted up the difficulty level. I had no problems conquering the other games, but Days of Ruin was significantly more challenging and I loved that I had to change up my strategies that had worked in the previous games and find new strategies.
@B238ben the difference though is Fire Emblem Awakening dramatically improved over other Fire Emblem games where this is just the same fantastic games. So while I think it'll still well (I'll buy it) I don't think it'll blow expectations out of the water like Awakening did
I am super excited for this. Advance Wars was the main reason I got a GBA when I was a kid. I saw the screen shots in a magazine that had a list of games that were coming out with this in there. So when I bought my GBA this was the first game I got. Dual Strike is my all time favorite game. But I got into playing turn based strategy games originally from my obsession with call Iron Storm on the Sega Saturn.
@Spiders
I rephrase. Their gameplay doesn't match the rest of their visual quality. The gameplay is mobile-tier and it really shows with their later Shantae games. A few of their games are hits (Double Dragon Neon, Contra 4) but most of their games are shovelware at worst and average at best. To think the Silent Hill game they made for PS Vita was a Diablo clone, that was beyond dumb.
I'm super excited for this. I'm terrible at Advance Wars, but having remakes of two amazing GBA games is fantastic! Just wish Dual Strike and Days of Ruin could have gotten the same treatment. Especially Days of Ruin.
@Heavyarms55 I've always wondered if maybe the reason the series seemed to have not gotten new entries in over a decade, was something to do with how it was handled in Japan in the 2000s.
Not sure whether I want to believe the unfortunate release date timing (the day after 9/11) was the sole reason the Japanese version of AW1 was canceled. Seems crazy to not delay, but completely cancel a game that would've otherwise had to have been fully developed and manufactured already.
So then instead they waited three years and the Japanese pretty much got three new games dropped on them at once (GBA Wars 1+2 on GBA and Dual Strike).
Then for some reason, Days of Ruin got canceled for Japan despite that apparently one or both of the released western versions containing a disabled JP mode within its coding (to only get officially released on 3DS eShop through some kind of promo exclusive). We know through a fan patch that re-enables it based on the console language setting.
I heard the franchise was huge there before, but then when it got introduced to the west and got huge here, then they stopped.
(though if I understand, one thing that set the Advance games apart from its predecessors was a story mode, that also introduced the CO powers, and maybe other features. I've tried the first two games and the single-player seems to only contain a series of individual scenes. That is, the FC/SFC games made by Intelligent Systems. Not the Game Boy games made by Hudson, which at least, turned the game from tile- to hex-based. Which it seems the canceled N64 game would've been as well.)
@leo13 Absolutely, I completely agree that Fire Emblem Awakening was better than two remakes. After this many years of waiting for a sequel (I have loved all the Advance Wars games) I'll take what I can get. I still have the original Advance Wars games and I don't really love the new art direction, but if people don't support this game the Advance Wars series will be left for dead. Hopefully, they use this game as a platform to bring all the old Advance Wars games from Japan over in DLC map packs or something. I hate spending the money unnecessarily for remakes of games I already have, but if Nintendo doesn't make money from this game they have no reason to continue to develop it. Plus, it will be nice to have the Advance Wars in HD and mobile on my Switch.
@KingMike It would not surprise me if there were some kind of internal business politics at play. Perhaps a quiet rivalry between workers or something.
@leo13 I don't just blanket hate DoR either. I don't care for the game but there are elements of it I like. Some of the new units that were introduced. And I remember it did support online play, albeit it all but dead on arrival community, but it did have that functionality.
Best announcement of the whole e3!
And we're going to play it this year!!!
Remaster = original game with updated or replaced assets, and additional features.
Remake = brand new game, new engine, new assets, all built to literally remake the game from scratch.
Reimagining = completely brand new experience built with the intent to retell the same story in a different way. Normally fits within an existing series.
Reboot = completely restarting an entire franchise/series from scratch.
@Richnj Nice list, but i guess this is brand as 3 amd 4 while being more like 2..
Really hope they make some nice extras like extra maps, shouldn’t be that hard, amd think the gba games were the purest..the ds games just added disbalance by using the over powered co studf and the dual screen
@romanista Considering the core gameplay looks identical. I'd say this fits as a remake. Unless they change the story and maps drastically.
A good rule of thumb for me is;
1) Any collection or next gen style ports. Like MCC, Borderlands, Bioshock.
2) Resident Evil 1 on GC, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot.
3) Goldeneye Wii, Resident Evil 2 and 3.
4) Prey.
@Heavyarms55 One thing to keep in mind though is that even if Days of Ruin bomb in sale, the game was actually very good and the story was dark and engaging but it wasn't the game everyone expected. It was a risk that Nintendo took but in the end it didn't pay off so Nintendo probably won't try to take the series into that territories ever again sadly. It's the same with Super Smash Bros. Brawl Subspace Emmisary, it's a dark story driven mode but as enjoyable as it is, it didn't benefit Nintendo in the end so they won't attempt that again ever which is why Smash Ultimate's Adventure Mode wasn't as story driven.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Yeah, no. I don't agree with that at all. I do not like that game. I don't like the story at all, nor the tone.
There were a few mechanics they added that I liked and a few new unit types. But that's about all.
I put hundreds of hours into AW1, 2 and Dual Strike, each. Days of Ruin lost me in barely 20.
@Heavyarms55 Hey not saying you should like it, I'm just saying it's not a bad game. It bomb cause it's different from the usual Advance Wars, not because it's a bad game and a lot of people agreed too both gamers and critics. A good game could bomb or not given a chance if it's not like the others.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ds/943675-advance-wars-days-of-ruin/reviews
@Ghost_of_Hasashi I don't disagree with the idea that it has some redeeming qualities. It's not inherently bad or anything.
But if you think I give a crap what reviewers or other gamers have to say about the game, then you're wasting your time.
I'm not saying you or anyone else who likes the game shouldn't. Enjoy what you enjoy.
But in my honest opinion, it bombed, it deserved to bomb too. I don't like the vast majority of the changes they made. The only regret I have is that it bombing all but killed the series for over a decade.
It's the internet. People disagree. We just gotta deal with that.
This and Fatal Frame were the biggest highlights for me
