Minecraft brings out so much creativity within the community. We can't count how many times we've been blown away by people's creations in this huge sandbox game over the years, and we've dreamt of seeing more Nintendo-related implementations within the game, especially after the official 3DS Minecraft got its own Super Mario Mash-Up.
Inspired by that very creation, @StephenJPlant has created a Zelda: Wind Waker pack for Minecraft on PC. The pack is a 16x16 resolution creation, which was a deliberate choice from the creator, as it matches the Super Mario one (that was also made for the Wii U).
The pack is compatible with version 1.19 of Minecraft, and while it focuses on cel-shaded Link's sea-faring adventure, many other references from the Zelda franchise are here too!
The pack is available to download from Planet Minecraft, but because there's so much stuff you'll need to download skins, music, and villagers separately. And you'll want to because one track — an arrangement of the Lost Swamp from Cadence of Hyrule — comes from video game cover song composer @superpixeltea. It's fabulous, and you can listen to it above!
Stephen has been sharing other aspects of the pack on Twitter in the lead-up to its release.
And you can get a (really) quick glance at all 150+ skins that are part of the pack right here:
From what we've seen of the pack online, this looks just as good as the Mario one. If we didn't know, we would think this was an official pack! We'd love to see Nintendo collaborate with the creators and make this a real thing!
If you're a Minecraft player on PC, let us know if you're grabbing this pack in the comments!

Why do Minecraft pixel “art” always look like low tier pixel art?
I mean… great for Minecraft players, but every Minecraft skin looks bad, they always look like taken out of bad Paint art and plastered into a mundane blocky model. But it’s more of a testament of the terrible art style from the game rather than the artist.
To be clear, enjoy guys. Whatever develops your creativity in Minecraft is good. I just can’t get around my head that Minecraft art looks good in any way, but that’s my opinion.
I follow Stephen J. Plant on Twitter. He makes some pretty rad artwork. Check out his 3D renders. A lot of them frequently get used in thumbnails for YouTube videos. He has one of a Smash Ultimate Bowser alt with his rainbow skin from the final boss fight in Super Mario 64. I'm pretty sure Nathaniel Bandy has used that in his thumbnails at least once. He's a really talented guy and also just a clean account to follow. A big dweeb who reminds me of myself. Check him out.
@YoshiF2 just cuz you don’t like something doesn’t make it inherently bad???
I mean if Mario can get a skin pack, it's not the most outlandish idea to think that Zelda could get one as well and this is a pretty good concept for something like that, props to Stephen!
@PARK1755 just cuz you like something doesn’t make it inherently good?
Welcome to the comment section.
@PARK1755 Agreed, that feels like negativity just for the sake of it, imo
@YoshiF2
this is a pet peeve of mine. much like a question asker doesnt have to say "here comes a question" before asking it, the opinionated don't have to declare their words as opinion. if you cant tell my opinions from fact, that doesnt mean i can't.
(its not as though they said "minecraft is ugly and thats an objective fact.")
@-wc- exactly. I mean, I’m not the art sheriff. It is obvious it’s an opinion. I just can’t understand what do people expect in a comment section where you’re supposed to post your point of view about the articles in hand?
Going to guess you can’t get this on switch. But it does look cool, and I will probably get it if it is on switch.
Wow, I'm gonna try this out next time I'm on Minecraft!
@YoshiF2 Probably because it's low-res? You don't exactly get a lot of aesthetic decisions when working with 16p resolution.
There's a reason why the "better" looking skins are 128p. Or maybe even higher these days? Haven't looked at Minecraft skins in years.
Hello lovely people lol
Oh she aint on this one my bad
I'm not really interested in the character models.
How does the world look like?
@YoshiF2 Hi. I'm the creator of this resource pack. If I had to guess why you associate Minecraft with "bad pixel art", I'd attibute it to something that a lot of people don't realize: the resolution on Minecraft textures is incredibly small. There aren't even enough pixels on a Minecraft skin's face to fit Jumpman's face from the original Donkey Kong arcade. I personally thought Minecraft's art was pretty ugly before I started playing it, and actually I've used my own resource pack for so long now that I think the default graphics look pretty ugly, but I think if you check this pack out you'll discover some pretty high-quality pixel art.
@StephenJPlant Hi Stephen. Don’t get me wrong. It looks like you put a lot of work into making A LOT of textures. My comment is more focused on the art style of Minecraft in general, and not your work directly.
I mean, I know there are limits because of the resolution, but seeing a Zora like that, is just plain ugly, (doesn’t mean your texture is ugly per se) Not that you did a bad work within the limitations of the art style. But what I mean with low tier is that you can’t make use of some elements like shades, brightness, etc within the space of a Minecraft skin, at least not the way of 8-bit or 16-bit pixel art. It lacks dimension and depth.
I know you’re a talented guy, and I’m most certain that talent would be better developed with a more complex type of pixel art. But you do you man. It’s your creation and maybe your favorite game. Don’t let a random commenter bring your joy down. 👍
Im more against the quality of the canvas that you painted on, rather than your art. Also kudos on making SO many characters. How many months of work did you put into them?
