After three years of Covid delays, Nintendo Live is coming back to Tokyo from October 8th to 9th. The event will feature live presentations, entertainment, gaming tournaments and some playable game demos all topped off with live music performances — the line-up for which has just been announced.
Pulling out three performances a day, Nintendo Live will be headlined by a DJ set from Animal Crossing's very own K.K. Slider in a show called 'DJ. K.K. Paradise Mixx!'. Also performing are Splatoon 3's brand new musical hosts Deep Cut. All performances will have the same content if you are lucky enough to be attending the event in person, and for those of us who won't be in Tokyo at the time, Sunday's final show will be live-streamed via YouTube Live, providing immaculate vibes around the world.
The shows will be held at the following times each day, with Sunday 9th's 6pm JST (10am BST, 5am EST, 2am PST) performance being the one we'll be able to catch on YouTube:
- 1st performance - Doors open at 12:45 Performance starts at 13:30
- 2nd performance - Doors open at 15:00 Performance starts at 15:45
- 3rd performance - Doors open at 17:15 Performance starts at 18:00
Entry to Nintendo Live will be structured on an application lottery after filling out a General Application Form on the official event site. Applications are open from today and will close on September 15th so be sure to get yours in if you are going to be in the area that weekend. Those lucky enough to be granted access to the event will then be assigned to a performance time where they can catch K.K. and Deep Cut's live music.
It looks like there is also going to be some exclusive festival merchandise for you to wear to the event including t-shirts, wristbands and glow sticks (alright Nintendo, we can't be there! No need to rub it in). Some of these items are already available from Japan's My Nintendo Store, so you can get festival-ready before the events kick off next month.
We have been seriously feeling the tunes released by Deep Cut so far in the run-up to Splatoon 3's launch on September 9th, and — of course — K.K.'s tracks are near unrivalled in Nintendo's rich musical back catalogue, so Sunday 9th October's livestream is going to be a can't-miss event.

These are those concerts with the holograms, right?
@TheDragonDAFan No. A real dog comes out and sings on stage.
Y’all know what that means — Deep Cut Live CD!! Probably!!
The Squid Sisters and Off the Hook live CDs were taken from their Makuhari performances, so maybe not this specific performance but a later one will get a CD release. But still LOL, can’t wait for that.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I would pay actual money to watch this performance. I haven't gotten attached to Deep Cut yet, but I have listened to Off The Hook unironically.
2 minutes into the live YouTube stream, Nintendo get hit by an influx of their own copyright claims, and the whole thing is scrapped.
So KK decided that learning Classical Gas on guitar was too difficult, so now he hits Play on an iPad and bobs his head while holding headphones to one ear. And gets paid more for it! Welcome to live music in 2022.
This is sarcasm, of course. Should be a good show.
Wait...DJ K.K. and K.K. Slider are the same person? No. no...that's not true...that's impossible!
My sleep scheduele IS already horrible…. may as well.
