Two new in-store distribution events have been announced for Pokémon Sword & Shield by The Pokémon Company. And it's North America, Australia, and New Zealand's turn to get some rare Mythical Pokémon.
In a repeat of Europe's event from September, trainers will be able to get their hands on Genesect, Volcanion, and Marshadow by heading into their local GameStop, Target, or JB Hi-Fi from 16th or 21st October.
We've got all of the dates here from The Pokémon Company's official announcement. Genesect and Volcanion will be available for the first part, while Marshadow will be distributed for the second half of the event:
Genesect and Volcanion
- US: GameStop (October 16 – 29, 2022)
- Canada: GameStop (October 16 – 29, 2022)
- Australia and New Zealand: JB Hi-Fi (October 21 – November 18, 2022)
Marshadow
- US: Target (October 30 – November 12, 2022)
- Canada: GameStop (October 30 – November 12, 2022)
- Australia and New Zealand: JB Hi-Fi (October 21 – November 18, 2022)
Make sure you head down to your nearest store or get someone you know to grab one of these codes, between the above dates!
These events are still going strong in the run-up to Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's launch. And, earlier today, we got to meet our third Gym Leader, the Electric-type streamer Iono!
Will you be grabbing any of these three Mythical Pokémon? Tell us in the comments!

Could I use these if someone in the States gives me the codes?
I'll be in the US during that first set of dates, so maybe this will be the time I finally get a Volcanion from an event.
Volcanion and Genesect are within my reach, but unfortunately not Marshadow. The nearest Target is a 90 minute drive. Not worth the gas money for something that should be an internet distribution anyway....
@Tyranexx My nearest GameStop is 6 hours away.
I'll just be over here waiting.
cool but I really don't care about pokemon anymore
So tired of going to GameStop for codes. I’d love it if it went back to just mystery gift, or even the Pokémon company emails from years past. I hate going in GameStop unless I’m making a purchase
@Kermit1 Oof. I'm lucky that there's a GS in the town I work in; the next closest is about forty minutes away (and still reasonably close).
I REALLY wish they'd go back to internet distributions. We all know these serial code distributions only exist to draw in desperate Pokemaniacs like yours truly in the hopes that we buy more store merch.
3hrs to the nearest jb hifi, 3mins to the nearest eb games ??? Well this socks.
Done with gamestop. Discord bots are the way
Whelp, no Genesect or Volcanion for me. Or shiny litwik in Pokemon Go for that matter--my brother's getting married Saturday lol. I probably wouldn't be able to get to a GameStop until Monday and my local ones run out super quickly.
Have these Pokèmon already and tbh except for Marshadow they're total rubbish.
@Gofixmeaplate This, I find it so annoying.
I get that Sword/Shield is the mainstream game, but given how much praise Legends Arceus got, where are our special Legends Arceus distributions?
Or a dlc for that?
sighs
Crimson/Violet needs to get here so that we can move on from Sword/Shield.
For big cities, when they say "October 16-29", they actually mean "either October 16 or 17 for just a few hours after we open, then we run out of cards". A huge pain to take the bus and train across the city just to hear they ran out or not distributing them that day.
Another scheme by Nintendo.
@CMS_Glalie
You do realise you're complaining about people complaining?
Glad this distribution is coming my way. Marshadow is the only Pokemon I don't have (besides the Gen IX ones). Will be glad to finally have a complete Dex in Pokemon Home.
God I hate going in a store and groveling to some smug smirky teen employee to receive some piece of physical code when I easily could have just downloaded the event over Wifi.
Or better yet, Pokemon needs to stop throwing out special Pokemon with a simple "Press A To Attain" and actually design fun in-game catching events, with cutscenes and characters involved like Heartgold/Soulsilver.
To all those too far away, you ever tried calling the store? Worked great me for me for Eternatus.
Bruh when you live in Asia and can't travel: (-.-)
This just in from serebii.
Following its reveal last week where New Zealand was listed for the coming distribution of Genesect, Volcanion and Marshadow, all official materials have since removed the listing for New Zealand with no replacement location for the country. At present we have no further information but will provide more as it comes so be sure to keep checking back...
Are you listening to us nintendo? If so cheers
