Limited Run Games Showcase To Feature "20+ New Digital And Physical Announcements"

I think we will be sharing the time a bit more with PS5 and XBox (now they seem to have a license for them) this time around, but still, I do enjoy their presentations. Won't be the same without Doug, but maybe there will be a cardboard cut out of him...

Limited run used to have some really exciting and even essential releases, like house in Fata Morgana and Turok etc.. now it seems all they release is shovelware

I assume that their release of DOOM Eternal will feature a tailor-made build that includes only the base game on a 16GB cartridge, and I guess what I want most from them is a standalone release of the expansion as well.

As for retro releases, I hope they can nab the rights to those early NES/GB/SNES/GBC/GBA Simpsons games and throw them onto a Switch cart.

But I'm quite at a loss as to what else I want. More 32GB cart releases that the major publishers won't touch? I'll also grab virtually any GB/GBC/GBA games that they throw at me.

Mostly correct. The Doom Eternal cartridge has the base game (which is 17GB) on cart. HOWEVER, the Doom Eternal cartridge still requires a 15+GB install for the Ancient Gods DLC update (which can be downloaded for no extra cost, to be fair).

In short, LRG's Doom Eternal is "physical, but..."

I used to go to bat regularly for Limited Run Games. I had a long string of purchases from them that went smoothly.
But ever since Embracer Group took ownership of them, their standards really have changed for the worse.

No more carefully curated selection of games, just prints of whatever they can buy the licensing rights to.
Inexplicable shipping delays for products that they have on-hand, in their warehouses.
No more waiting for all updates/DLC to be released before selling a physical version, just sending games out with update downloads required.

I really, really used to like their service. But it's hard to defend their corporate masters.

I’d love to see which funky games they can revive next. The top of my list might be the PS2 Lord of the Rings games, or Simpson’s Hit & Run, which seems somewhat possible with their Disney connections.

I still really want a physical release of the original Resident Evil trilogy. The priority would be Switch, but I'd buy it for PS4/5 too. Some Metal Gear Solid would be nice, and our only hope of a properly physical release at this point.

@piecez I received Powerslave Exhumed and am waiting on Shin Chan and Alien Isolation. Shovelware? I think not.

Been wanting Spelunky 1 & 2 and the Castlevania Advance Collection physically for a while now, so hoping for those.

Didn’t they tease a 3DS release a few months back? Wonder if we’ll finally get to see what that is.

Their showcase last year was one of the best showcases last year. If these are annual, I'll look forward to them with about the same anticipation as Nintendo Directs and Devolver Digital Showcases. But some of last year's announcements still haven't even gone to pre-orders, like Rendering Ranger R2 and Plumbers Don't Wear Ties.

Castlevania Advance collection and Portal companion collection please

I wonder if I preorder the announcements now if I'll get them in a year or two.

Lot of things could go wrong here ... one being The castlevania advance collection being announced and it being overpriced to all hell

Jurassic Park retro collection was supposed to be announced this month. Now July 12?

All I want from LRG is the next Ultimate Nintendo book. Make it about the N64! I wouldn’t get into the handhelds as a book series as Jeremy Parrish has already locked that one down.

I ended up selling the Doom Eternal copy I ordered.

@WhiteUmbrella powerslave was the last release I purchased from them too. Haven’t received it yet. They have put out a lot of quality titles, but more recently I see nothing noteworthy.

They're not what they used to be, and rapidly approaching zombie company status like Blizzard or Atari where a money grubbing business is wearing the skin of a once great one. Physical collections and limited editions became hip and now they and others are trying to exploit it to the max. Hardest of passes on whatever they announce.

Two years later, still no sign of Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. I mean, I get it's one of the worst games ever, but I still wanna see the novelty of it all. XD

LRG is the company that over promises but under delivers.

I always loved the concept of LRG, but slowly over the years as I've gotten older and actually made a few purchases from them and seeing their buyout by Embracer, they're obviously just here more for money and milking on collectors and making preservation of many of the indie titles they do put out actually harder with their limited distributions. I'm happy with their book subsidiary Press Run as they've helped to publish a lot of great retro books, but everything else is marked by overly long production times, milking of customers, and overt greed

I've bought a couple of games from Limited Run Games (Mega Man the Wily Wars and Castlevania Collection) and outside of the very long way to receive them I wasn't disappointed in them. That said some of the recent releases such as the Jurassic Park and Bill and Ted Collections makes some of the decisions questionable.

@CharlieGirl The problem is they get too many orders than what they can realistically manage so some customers don't recieve their product close to the estimated release, sometimes months or even years after. This is due to a huge backlog of orders. If Limited Run only stuck with a few products per quarter, their orders would be manageable but they instead announce several products just for a one month pre-order window and they do this for nearly every month of the year so the backlog of orders is just piling up. I am honestly surprised Limited Run is still in business despite having many unsatisfied customers.

@HistoricKombat They used to do this! That's what bothers me most about Embracer Group's LRG. It used to be a curated selection of releases per quarter. Then since 2020 they exploded in popularity, got corporate backing, offered more product than they could comfortably produce, and now they're struggling to catch up.

With Embracer having struggles of their own, LRG is going to have to make a lot of cutbacks if they want to still exist in a year.

Maybe they'll announce a physical version of Alan Wake 2.

I'm still bitter I capitulated and bought Alien Isolation digitally, only to have LR come out with a physical version.

At least I held out on Doom Eternal.

Good call everyone on castlevania advance collection, that needs to happen. One other game I’m looking out from them on is the u-fouria rerelease.

Please let one of those be Star Ocean: First Departure R. Though I already beat the game four times already in my life I still need an official physical edition on cartridge.

Hopefully, we'll get to hear more about the Jurassic Park release. I really hope they have the Mega Drive games, though. As they are a league about the Nintendo ones.

Would love to see the Playstation//Saturn JP games on it too! I should be so lucky, though...

Think the last time I bought anything from them was their recent Blowout sale at the beginning of the year. I missed out on a game I was wanting so I got another barely and two blind boxes. I still don’t know why I keep getting the blind box since it is usually something that is worth much less than what I paid for.
I do like that they have the pre order window but man that wait is forever feeling. I only buy now if the title hits BestBuy. Still waiting on Contra Collection to surface there.

i have some on my list that i would love to see there. suikoden 1&2 and castlevania gba collection .

@CharlieGirl I was a very big fan of the company, and I am a person with the patience level of a monk, but the year plus wait for shipments has become a bit much. And when you ask why they havent shipped the items that are all in hand, they say they have no way of knowing how far along in the shipping process an item is once its in the warehouse, so just have faith.

Do people actually still buy these overpriced games from them.
Most they sell are 5 dollar worth of games.

I replied asking for more information, and have gotten no response since.
It'll be my last ever purchase from them.

Agh. LRG, at first like a savior, and now it's a complete villain with it's less than stellar shipping. Only thing that would make me support them is Castlevania advance collection or cyber shadow.

I've still got a few unplayed 3DS titles, and I finally just got a physical copy of Detective Pikachu yesterday, lol. Indeed, a new 3DS release is always welcomed. 🙂

Personally had no issues with them so far , I’ve recently had some discount codes for money off my orders and the last couple of games have been sent within timeframe. I would love to see more retro styled collections for switch . I don’t know if it’s a thing or not but would love to see some Sega game gear games
