Nintendo is localising Xenoblade Chronicles for Europe at least, and players anticipating the game's score might want to read the latest Iwata Asks about the game.
Producer Tetsuya Takahashi reveals the reasons behind asking renowned composer Yasunori Mitsuda to write the final track, but it's veteran game musician Yoko Shimomura who comes out with the best quote:
When I was learning piano as a student, I got hooked on Super Mario Bros. and really overdid it, playing it all night. I then went to an important piano lesson and my teacher asked me why I wasn’t able to move my hands...
Shimomura went on to arrange the soundtracks for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that playing Super Mario Bros. leads to Very Good Things.
You can listen to a few samples from the Xenoblade Chronicles soundtrack for a taste of what's to come when the game reaches Europe later this year.

I think we need an edit. The quote says he played Super Mario Bros.4 but that 4 is a footnote on the source page and not the fourth game in the series.
Aww... I was hoping for Motoi Sakuraba but instead it's just some random nobody... This really sucks.
Love this OST. It's a shame these limited editions always remain in Japan...
By the way, James Newton, be careful when copy&paste, because this "4" after Super Mario Bros. is a reference to a comment below.
Give James a break. I don't see you posting news stories everyday.
@iPruch We all make mistakes Thanks for spotting it!
Listened to the samples. I might get this is they release it in North America.

This isn't some random nobody! Yoko Shimomura is a great composer, and some of the ACE+ stuff is even better. This is a great soundtrack! I can't wait to get my hands on this game.
