After its break last year, E3 is really starting to feel like an actual thing again this year. We've already heard about a growing list of game publishers that are going to be on board, and now more details are being set in stone thanks to a new host reveal.
E3 2021 will be an all-virtual global event taking place from Saturday, 12th June through to Tuesday 15th. The four-day broadcast will be hosted by Greg Miller, Jacki Jing and Alex 'Goldenboy' Mendez, who will be "providing expert-level commentary, publisher and developer interviews and much more."
Those of you who know your industry peeps might already be familiar with those names, but here's some info on each for anyone who needs a catch-up:
Greg Miller – Co-founder of online entertainment outlet Kinda Funny, Miller has become one of gaming’s most sought after hosts for various events across the industry. Known for his often comedic and insightful takes, Miller has deep ties to video and podcast content on video game culture, film, television and comics.
Jacki Jing – Emmy-nominated TV journalist and current on-camera host and producer seen on IGN, Nerdist, Funimation and Anime News Network, Jing has hosted several red carpet events and conducted dozens of celebrity interviews for AAA feature films.
Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez – One of the top professional esports commentators, host for multiple fan-favorite games including Fortnite, Halo, Valorant and Overwatch, as well as commentator for NBC’s “The Titan Games.” Mendez recently announced he will also be bringing his comedic styles to G4.

E3 huh?
I'm more hyped for the next Nintendo direct than E3 as a whole, personally.
I wonder who the Nintendo host will be
I'm waiting for at least 1 or 2 upcoming kids games from E3 2021.
I don't even care nor have any interest with upcoming AAA games at all.
Just gimme some good shovelwares / interesting obscure games and i will be happy.
@Anti-Matter Isn’t ‘good shovelware’ an oxymoron? If it’s good then it kinda ceases to be shovelware in that sense.
Is colin moriarty still considered a co-founder of kinda funny or did he have that title removed? I prefer him over greg anyway.
@Anti-Matter When has shovelware ever been good? Are you craving some Chicken Shoot action?
Its one thing to not like something because it's rated M, but it's another to completely disregard a AAA or AA or even indie game just because it isn't Petz. Get out of your comfort zone for once.
@darkswabber Yeah always like Colin over Greg. After all that 'hullabaloo' with Colin (which, I cant even remember now), he just kinda disappeared. Unless, thats what he wanted to do.
Side note, haven't seen Greg in a few years, dude lost a lot of weight, fair play to him!
@Kalmaro
Yeah but that probably wil be at e3
@HotGoomba I’m glad SEGA is at E3 for Sonic.
Can we get more good shovelware
Lol. I nearly died
Sigh. Sex sells doesn't it? The picture of Jacki looks so out of place and less professional than the picture of the guys.
@HotGoomba
I have played some good shovelwares or interesting obscure games such as We Cheer 2, All Star Cheer Squad, Fling Smash, EA Playground, My Sims games, DDR (2010), Hannah Montana the Movie, Bolt, Gold's Gym Cardio Workout, Imagine DS games, Hi Hamtaro! Ham Ham Challenge, Beatmania IIDX, Pop'n Music, DrumMania, Para Para Paradise, Dual Pen Sports, Cooking Mama games, etc.
I will experience with more obscure / never before played games for next month.
I would like to play 100 obscure games that really caught my interest rather than 1 AAA games that really offending me.
The AAA game for me only one, Dance Dance Revolution series. 100 from 100.
@nessisonett
Sometimes unpopular / obscure / shovelware games by most peoples are popular in my heart.
@Ahlvin23 Will it? I could have sworn they did it at a different date last time, I may just be remembering wrong.
@readyletsgo colin currently has the biggest podcast related to gaming on any platform together with chris ray gun (don’t let that name scare you off if all you know about him is 2+ years old, he’s a great guy now, already was he just associated with the wrong crowd). Also the biggest playstation related thing I think.
So glad E3, or at least E3 season is back. Bring on the announcements!
Quite a bummer and I am hoping it does not mess into the presentations itself. P.s: Miller is most likely my least prefered host ever, he is too loud and kind of not funny, pun absolutely intended
@Kiz3000 Hm, I didn't associate her picture with sex, but in general you're right. And it's not really a question of using sex to sell, it's more about the role that women need to take on in order to have a public platform.
Jacki's photo does look out of place comparatively, but that's just how some women assert themselves, either because they want to, or feel they have to, depending on the individual woman.
I've had this E3 in my calendar for the last year, and some odd months. I wonder if Nintendo will have their Treehouse playthroughs. They could still do it, just having individual team members handling a play session for a particular title, then for the same game, have another team member playing a different console in a different location; thus maintaining social distancing.
This should be interesting, and fun.
@Kalmaro For the last 2 years (maybe 3?) Nintendo have done a Direct before E3 and then used E3 to showcase their stuff and done Treehouse for those of us at home.
This year, from what I have seen, it looks like Nintendo are all in on E3 meaning their "Direct" will be officially part of the E3 timetable.
I may be wrong but that's the impression I have gotten.
Greg Miller is obnoxious, so efff him. Jacki Jing, no doubt she's as eloquent as she is beautiful, I'd hit it. And Goldenboy, he's probably the best choice of the bunch.
@Kalmaro Same. I’m probably not going to watch the big e3 general event unless I have to. I just want to know the date that Nintendo’s doing their stuff.
Not sure I understand the need for hosts, or events that require hosts. Developer demos and trailers for new announcements (in otherwords, Nintendo Direct style "events") are all that's necessary. Just line 'em up and let us watch.
If they let us all play the demos at home I’ll be happy. Otherwise I’ll just see the updates on here and Pushsquare
@Kiz3000 don't know who any of them are because I don't watch streamers or influencers or any of that but yeah she's hot
Super pumped 😊👍
My Body is Ready
Greg Miller? Won't be watching it then.
@Anti-Matter Why do you hate triple AAA games?
I can understand there are some overrated games that are released, but every once in a while you get amazing games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Final Fantasy 7 remake.
@russell-marlow
I don't even like those games and will never like.
I am not a gamer who will happy by playing AAA games by most peoples here.
I am different kind of gamer.
I play obscure / unpopular games by mostly.
For me they are my best hidden gems that made me happy than AAA games.
What's everybody's problem with Greg Miller? I listen to his podcast every now and then, and while he's definitely high energy, I wouldn't say he's obnoxious or immature. I think he'll do a great job with this!
@russell-marlow Probably the wrong two games to mention for outstanding AAA games. Popular sure, but imo RDR2 was ruined by going over the top with animations and bad pacing, so was always a chore to do or get anything done.
FF7 Remake was just a bland boring 'action' RPG take on a story that is already a convoluted mess, more so now with the changes they took. Suffers from modern SE thinking that everything has to be stylish but forget the substance (KH3 is the same).
Nioh 2 is likely the most recent AAA game I have enjoyed and that arguably isn't AAA. Hoping Nier Replicant will be one too but still awaiting the physical.
@Anti-Matter I agree. I find the most fun and often well designed games come from developers with a limited budget, so they actually have to put effort into making the games fun or interesting. AAA due to its needless high budget nature always play things safe which pretty much makes them all feel like the same average poop.
Is this a new thing for the "odd" E3 that is this year, or did E3 always have "hosts" that one misses if watching via various other coverage streams (mostly the publisher's official channels.)
@XenoShaun Subjective opinions, but other AAA games come to mind like Titan Fall 2, Sekiro, Spider-man PS4, Yakuza games, too name a few.
@Anti-Matter If you play obscure/unpopular games and you mention you play mostly "shovelware", which is very low-quality games, does that mean you don't have much taste in games?
The only people I know that play shovelware games are certain streamers that play those games ironically to joke and point out how bad those games are with their chat and laugh about it.
Greg Miller? Ugh. Not going to watch it.
@russell-marlow
I have completely different gaming taste.
I don't even like to play popular games such as Fornite, Zelda, FIFA, etc.
They are really boring games, not even my taste.
I like to play casual / obscure games that easy to play, easy to understand.
The casual games i played such as Imagine series, Petz series, My Sims, Cooking Mama, We Cheer 2, EA playground, Ochaken no Heya series, Hello Kitty 3DS, Hamtaro DS game, etc. Peoples usually called those games as shovelwares but for me they are hidden gems.
The obscure games i played such as Beatmania IIDX, Pop'n Music, DrumMania, Para Para Paradise, K-1 PS2 & GBA, Monster Farm 4 PS2, Dance Dance Revolution, Dillon's Dead Heat Breakers, Metroid Prime Federation Force, Yokai Watch 3DS games, etc. They are actually great games (not shovelwares) but not everybody know or even really get into those games.
I don't play shovelwares to make a joke about it, i genuinely really have interest with some shovelwares. It was my natural interest with them.
@Kiz3000 Well she has to wear a Marvel shirt to prove she's a nerd otherwise how can a girl like nerd stuff. sarcasm
@Anti-Matter I totally disagree with your stance, and I think you are limiting your horizons quite a bit. There are AAA games that are worthwhile and well-crafted.
On the other hand, you are articulating what you do like, and I see that you are consistent in this. I appreciate that you have this perspective and can express it without resorting to personal attacks. I don't think people are right to attack you, even if we mostly disagree with you.
I don't get the hate for Greg Miller. He seems like a nice guy to me
@COVIDberry
I would rather limiting my horizons for some uninteresting games since i have no interest at all to know them. It has no benefit for me to feed my brain with something that definitely not interesting for me and it will make me very uncomfort to deal with them.
I'm not hungry for ultra realistic looking graphics. Instead, most of AAA games with very realistic graphics just turned me off. I completely dislike ultra realistic graphics, i will vomit or felt offended to see such graphics like that especially Western games. Just give me cute HD cartoonish graphics and i will be happy.
I would rather playing Say No ! More (indie game) with very stiff character design but with very hilarious gameplay and quickly caught my attention rather than playing FF XV with ultra realistic graphics and more violence that make me really sick since from first impression. Interesting gameplay >>>>> ultra hd realistic graphics.
@SwitchVogel - It's easy to dislike what's popular, like disco music in the 70's or something.
I wonder how many games will have "surprise mechanics" this year?
the new host its count dracula hohihihihi
I'M SO EXCITED FOR E3 2021!!!
it seems like it's gonna be great
dont really mind the hosts though, just really care about the games
